Astro Pixel Processor 2.0.0-beta6 release notes

  • IMPROVED BLACK DATA CLIPPING WARNING from Calibration Engine

We realize that this warning caused some frustration allthough we do think that it is an important warning still to make the user better aware of data issues leading to possible suboptimal results. To remove frustration about the warning, we have increased the threshold for the warning to appear. Furthermore, the warning will only show now after a long running task completes. It will not stop a long running task anymore. The warning will not show at all if the calibration warnings are turned of in 2) CALIBRATE.

  • FIXED AND IMPROVED WINDOWS INSTALLER

The APP icon when the application is running now properly shows on windows 10, 11. Also the icon is shown properly in the windows remove/uninstall list. The application can be pinned to the taskbar from the start meny icon. When the installer is started, the user is shown the choice to install APP for all users or only for the current user. Installing for all users requires admin rights and allows you to install APP in c:/program files/astropixelprocessor now. Further confirmation is needed but this might fix issues with the file chooser on windows 11 as reported by some users.

  • FIXED and IMPROVED Bayer/X-Trans Drizzle data normalization

As reported in this topic https://www.astropixelprocessor.com/community/main-forum/drizzle-and-dual-band-filters/ there was a bug in Bayer Drizzle processing, especially with O3 data. It turned out that Bayer Drizzle had 2 bugs. The first bug was that data normalization was not working correctly. This is now fixed.

  • FIXED and IMPROVED Bayer/X-Trans Drizzle HaO3 extract O3 & HaO3 mono narrowband processing

As reported in this topic https://www.astropixelprocessor.com/community/main-forum/drizzle-and-dual-band-filters/ there was a bug in Bayer Drizzle processing, especially with O3 data. It turned out that Bayer Drizzle had 2 bugs. The second bug was that the O3 data reconstruction from the green and blue channel was not working correctly. This is now fixed by properly scaling the O3 signal in the green and blue channels for O3 extract and similarly for HaO3 mono reconstruction. This fix has a strong positive effect on the Signal To Noise Ration of the results 🙂 :

  • Added possibility to detach the console to a separate window and save its location and dimensions

This brings back the detached console window for those who liked having it, as well as making it useful for multiple screen setups.
