Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

The Latest update to PHD2 was December 2023. Does that stop you from using it? I'm really tired of guys bugging Mabula about an update. Give him a break or get something else if you think you can find better.

I more or less agree with @astrogee. I'm guessing that @mabula-admin is focussed more on updating the software (and probably also his new marriage) and less on monitoring this forum, which has become more of a user driven thing.

I decided early on that I am not a beta tester. It may be shocking to some, but I'm still using the last production version 1.083.4. It does everything I need and I'm very happy with it. If a newer, better production version comes along then that's great, but in the mean time 1.083.4 is fine. You don't have to agree of course.

Things don’t go according to plan, I think people can appreciate that but much of the issue is expectation management and the radio silence.

A two month old banner that describes a soon to be release major update with no additional comment or update just invites questions.

As far as production vs. Beta goes, 38 release iterations in, I think we’re long past that distinction.

I also agree with @snapthot Feedback, @mabula-admin should remove that banner and then no one will have any expectations. We already have end of month November, hence almost three months overdue and there was an earlier date to introduce the Beta-39, which was changed on Sep 9 2025 to the banner we still see today.

Hi all,

APP 2.0.0-beta39 has been released today, sorry to have kept you waiting for so long. It took a lot of work and it is a major update, the whole registration engine has been rewritten. I thought i could finish it sooner but i had to make sure that this update is robust and much better, which it is in all of my testing.

Support will be resumed and APP 2.0 with the manual is also nearly finished, I aim to have APP 2.0 + the HTML and PDF manual released before Christmas (this year).

I will definitely try to improve the support here going forward. Personally, I had a very busy couple of months with getting married and organizing everything around it while trying to improve APP significantly and writing a manual. I think that if you try beta39 with the new registration engine you will appreciate that this is not a minor update, but actually a very big one.

Again, sorry for the bad communication and poor support. I will try to improve it going forward.

Mabula
