May 27 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta45 has been released !
Fully Multi-Threaded LNC, many improvements for the registration engine, platform upgrade, and further tuning of internal memory consumption and memory release back to OS.
Apr 14 2026: Google Pay, Apple Pay & WeChat Pay added as payment options
Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.
Hello,
I did a test a couple of years ago comparing different stackers on the same set of data.
50 frames shot with Nikon D5500 (NEF files).
Results:
Siril - 2:30m (fastest)
DSSÂ Â - 5m
ASTAP - 6m
APPÂ Â Â - 8m (lowest noise)
PIÂ Â Â Â - 21m
I just re-ran APP (latest 2.0 b45) - 7m - certainly not slower but a little bit faster.  Â
Hi Max @maxthebuilder,
Great, beta46 should again be a couple of % faster. I have further improved memory usage. The total memory usage will be lower with beta46 when compared to beta45 and earlier and this increases performance because of lower application overhead.
In the mean time, I am actively seeking to optimize code parts step by step.Â

Just for fun I recently did an old vs new comparison on APP. Older computer with older APP, newer computer with newer APP.
I know this isn't a proper comparison and is not scientific. Its not comparing like with like. As I said, it was just for fun.
OLD
Intel I9 with 64gb ram (about 6 years old)
APP 1.083.4 (last production version)
New
Intel Ultra 9 with 96gb ram
APP beta 41 (I think)
Test integration:
OLD - about 30 minutes
NEW - about 4 mins 40 secs
That's more than six times faster !!
Mabula (@mabula-admin) has been making these incremental improvements and I don't think it is obvious how much they stack up (of course the new computer helped).
