OpenSuse 64-bit - RPM wants to install 32-bit libraries???

Thank you for this information, I will need to test this behaviour on the same Linux distribution.

I have tested APP on several Linux distributions, but not yet on Opensuse tumbleweed (64-bit).

So I will test this myself and will give you feedback.

Looking at the required libraries, I see libraries for X and sound, aren't these installed on your OS? I assume you have a graphical desktop environment, or not?

Yes - that was the list on the top - they are all 64-bit - thus my question why I would want to install 32-bit ?

 (That was one of the reasons I wanted this APP (Pun intended) for linux instead of running on the Windows 10 VM inside...

One final question, did you proceed with installation anyway? If so, did it work?

What I will do: I'll create a virtual  machine with openSuse Tumbleweed 64bit and will try to install the RPM package. To verify the dependencies and if everything works correctly after installing.

Should take me 1-2 days this week to give you more feedback.

Did not even try in Native machine w/ Opensuse.

Installed APP in windows VM to get some practice for when you get it so I can set up in Opensuse 🙂

APP benefits from more cpus, more memory and definitely faster IO on the harddisk. I have run APP in VMs (testing linux distributions) using Oracle's VirtualBox and it was quite a bit slower when compared to running APP on the host machine.

I will work for you on getting this issue fixed 😉 on Suse Tumbleweed.

Decided to see if I was lucky and said to install (Yast -> software mgmt)

Said yes to load the stuff mentioned originally and never got there

Got this instead:

Let me know what you get when you get to that point (Dependencies, and the msg above) please ?

Windows is bringing me to a relative crawl, REALLY want to get this working on native OpenSuse!

I have a certificate for signing, It's used for the windows installers, I'll see if I can include it in the Linux packages as well.

I want to have it working also on your Linux OS(and all other distributions) 😉 !

 I have Suse Tumbleweed 64bit running with a KDE desktop.

I tried to install the RPM package version 1.054 using YaST2

Indeed, I am getting the message from YaST2, that a lot of packages need to be installed due to the dependencies needed.

The 32bits packages, seem to be packages for which only 32bits packages exist, Yast indicates that these are fine for the 64bits OS though so Yast simply inidicated that these are needed. I don't see warnings here.

After downloading all packages, I get the same warning:

Package is not signed!

Since I trust my own application, I chose to ignore the warning. Then Yast2 proceeded with installing all the downloaded dependencies:

No warnings and no errors. APP is installed into the KDE launch bar with an icon, it can be found in the Science & Math folder.

I tested APP with an integration of some H-alpha data of the Rossette. APP worked fine, graphics and sound work like they should.

So I think I do need to sign the RPM package so that warning won't show up, but apart from that, everything looks okay to me 😉

I have studied the signing of RPM packages. This is about signing RPM packages with a GPG key, for online distribution using online repositories. It basically confirms that a package is from that particular repository and that it is safe to download & install. I will study it some more, but for now I think you can safely ignore the "package is not signed" warning.

The good new is that I am now installed under OpenSuse on a 4k monitor 🙂

The bad news is the menus, etc., are tiny since I am now installed under OpenSuse on a 4k monitor 🙁

Would desktop scaling (Operating System setting for the desktop) be an option for the moment that you are running APP? Then the GUI should be scaled, but image output would still be on the 4k resolution I would think.

Currently, I don't have a software option in APP yet, that could scale the application itself. If it's needed, I'll put it on my priorities list.

Fiddled w/ scaling and while the 'header' on top resizes, the 'internal' fonts are unchanged (tried LXDE and LXQT)

P.S. It DOES run ALOT faster though :))
