Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Hello. I have used APP with default settings maybe 10 times. Usually everything just works. However, I just received the Askar ColorMagic D1 and D2 filters, and I am struggling to stack data. I use an ASI2600MC and a 5x2 EFW. In the attached sample I am using my 8" EdgeHD (reduced to 1484mm), but I have had this same error message using an Askar SQA55. Ideally I would like to add the D1 data to the D2 data, but right now I can't stack them separately either. Thoughts? Thank you-

Tyler

I'm guessing the 8" EdgeHD is running at F7. I don't know what the bandpasss is on the Askar Colormagic, but 60 secs is probably too short for narrowband at F7 even on a mono camera (unless you are shooting a really bright target), and a colour camera is going to be less sensitive. I'm guessing there are just not enough stars to stack - especially if the focus or the guiding is a bit off.

After you have done 2) Analyze stars, check the star count for each frame (you might have to scroll right). You may have some frames with a low star count. If there are only a few try deleting them and redoing the registration. If they are all low you will probably need to reshoot at a longer exposure time - I would suggest at least 3 mins or longer if your mount can handle it.

Of course it could just be clouds 😉 .

Try lower the "Analyze star" from standard 500 to 40 and see if that works.

Replying to John: Of course! This is clearly a dumb move by me. We'll call it a "senior moment"? I can't believe I did that.

To Stefan, thanks for the tip. I will find that setting and make an adjustment. I am hesitant to change default settings, but I have to at some point, so I can do this first.

Thank you both for your time.

"Senior moments"  - we've all had them - I've had plenty.

Hi Tyler @monsonmjmgmail-com,

Were you able to solve the issue with the posted suggestions? (Thanks @connor231 & @digitaliz-se)

How many stars does APP report in your images? If you load the star map with the image viewer dropdown box (above the image viewer you can select raw, calibrated etc... star map is the last option) does it look like APP is detecting the stars properly?

You can try to enable the cosmic ray/noise reducer in 3) analyze stars to see if that solves it. Enable it and set the lower area limit to 15-20 and try again.

Please let me know if this helps.
