May 27 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta45 has been released !
Fully Multi-Threaded LNC, many improvements for the registration engine, platform upgrade, and further tuning of internal memory consumption and memory release back to OS.
Apr 14 2026: Google Pay, Apple Pay & WeChat Pay added as payment options
Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.
Hallo to all,
i'm a new user from Italy. I don't do deepsky but just nightscapes with milkyway arch or part of the milkyway.
I just download the software and i'm triying to make a mosaic made of 5 pannel with a 11mm lens ( one light for pannel with 3 min exposure).
i followed the video tutorial from Mabula but i receive always an error at the end of the procedure.
what are the best setup to calibrate, register, normalice and integrate the singol pannel?
and what for the final mosaic?
thank you in advance for your help and clear skys

APP is not really the best software for superwide angle lenses.
A better software is PTGUI or AutoPano Giga.

thank you Stefan for the reply ! I usually use PTGUI Pro for stiching panos but I would like to use FITS file to be able to postproduce the full pano in APP / SIRIL and PIXINSIGHT and have a bettet final result.
i hope someone can help me

Hi Allesio @zanoale84,
Thank you very much for your question and welcome to the Astro Pixel Processor forum.
APP should be able to handle super wide angle lenses, I can make 180 degree mosaics in APP and have tested that on several data. The algorithms are not yet perfect, but with some help there is a good chance that we can make your mosaic work in APP. I will even be happy to try your data myself to help you out here and to test and improve APP further.
First of all, in 3) analyze stars, you need to set the star amount to at least 2000 I think.
Then in 4) Register, it is vital that you use the calibrated projective registration mode, enable mosaic registration, increase scale stop to 10-15, try with both same camera and optics enabled and disabled. Finally, you can increase the margin a bit.
Set the projection below the start registration button to equirectangular or mercator otherwise the size of the integration becomes very huge with rectilinear projection.
If you want me to test your data and show you how I can make it work ( if possible) then please upload your data here:

Please make a folder like :
Alessio-WideAngle-Mosaic
and upload the data there and let me know once uploaded then I will try it myself in the coming days and will give you feedback.

Hi Stefan @digitaliz-se,
We know that things can be improved for sure with mosaics and wide angles, but directly referring to other software is not warranted nor desired here I think.
There is a good chance that we can make this work in APP for Alessio, because there is many wide angle data that will be processed fine with APP even with optics with big optical distortions. We only don't support fish-eye optics. We only support rectilinear optics currently.
For instance, this is a 3-panel 180 degree mosaic using a 14mm lens with quite extreme optical distortion , from horizon to horizon, APP could already do this 5 years ago.

@mabula-admin Hello Mabula and thank you for your help. I uploaded the files on the server.
I send you just the summer arch in RGB but i have also H alpha pannels and than the same for the winter arch.
This is an example of what i woul like to have as final result ( but in FITS to have more flexibility )

Hi Alessio, @zanoale84
Thank you, I will try your data in the coming days and will report back later 😉
