I have Ha shot with an Atik 460EX through a Askar FMA180mm F4.5 scope. I then have RGB shot with a Canon 650D and 50mm lens. I'm trying to overlay the Ha to enhance certain parted of the 50mm wide field image such as the Horse Head and Orion Nebula. All goes well until I get this failure message at the Normalization stage:
I have been following the notes in the Mosaic tutorial and my AAP version is 1.082. I have tried all of the available settings within Normalization but get the same failure warning. Pixel scales are: 5.2 for the Atik rig and 11.6 for the Canon rig.
This is a shot of the workflow log:
Any help would be appreciated though I'm guessing having different cameras may be a problem.
This is likely because you're trying to normalize RGB (which is multi-channel data) with mono (1 channel) data. To get this to work you first need to split the RGB channels into R, G and B (split channel option all the way down on tab 2). Then you'll have all mono data and you can register, normalize all of those together. When done, you'll have 4 masters which you can load into the RGB Combine tool.
Good day all. I am having a lot of trouble completing a 3x3 mosaic. I followed Vincent's recommendations of creating 9 individual panels as I normally would. Went back and set for mosaic, When it gets to REGISTER, it keeps giving errors. Specifically an 'Uncountable' error. See attached. Settings are as follows.
Scale start 5
Scale stop 15 (I've played with both of these from 2 to 10 respectively)
Flip descriptors, dynamic distortion clicked and same camera unchecked.registration as Mosaic, calibrated projective. normalize is Advanced. 2nd degree with 3 iterations. MBB @ 10% (as was acquired as such). I've tried both Lanczos-3 and Cubic B-spline.
At least half the frames come back unregistered or I get the Uncountable error'.
Camera is ASI294MC with L-Extreme filter. Tab 0 is set for Ha-OIII and Force Bayer checked. Each panel is only 7 or 6 300 sec subs.(I cannot attach as they are larger that 30MB)
Suggestions? It is important to note that I have done 2x2 mosaics with no issues in the past, so not sure why this is being held up.
So, apart from the overlap (if it's 10% then we advise to increase that, it can be too low for a multiple panel mosaic, say 15-20% is better as APP does need enough stars to register). You can also try to increase the amount of stars, set it at 2000 for instance.
No I mean the actual overlap. 🙂 So the overlap you programmed for the capture software to use, that should be higher than 10%. We can have a look at the panels you have to see the issue.

Was the 2x2 mosaic that worked taken with the 294MC and L Extreme filter?
Sorry took a bit. Yes, from what I can see, the overlap is not big enough for the top 3 and bottom 3. Unfortunately you'd have to take bigger overlapping frames, but you can add them to this dataset and then they can still be used.
