May 27 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta45 has been released !

Fully Multi-Threaded LNC, many improvements for the registration engine, platform upgrade, and further tuning of internal memory consumption and memory release back to OS.

Apr 14 2026: Google Pay, Apple Pay & WeChat Pay added as payment options

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Hi together,

Looking for support with stacking:
I am stacking my yesterday's images of M101 with Astro Pixel Processor. The camera is a mono IMX571 chip.
As always, I'm using Masterbias and Masterdark from the library, which usually works.
I threw in the flats I took today. However, it doesn't seem to add the masterflat to the light.

As soon as I want to switch to the calibrated image, I get a strange result. Everything looks flat and heavily darkened. As you can see from the entries below, the MF was not used for the calibration.
All shots were taken as usual with NINA. Can anyone explain this?
I have the same phenomen with Pixinsight too.

Thanks for help!

Christian

Hi Christian @gru89,

Thank you very much for posting your issue.

Did you create the masterflat while also loading the bias/masterbias to make sure that the sensor offset is subtracted from your flats? If not, that will explain your issue I think.

Please try to load the MasterDark, MasterBias, the newly created flats and your lights and then calibrate and check if the masterflat is created properly and if it will be assinged to your lights and let me know the outcome.

What you can also check if the masterflat has the same pixel dimensions as your lights, it should. Can you double check this?

Were the flats shot with the same sensor gain and offset as the bias? And with the same NINA version?

An issue like this is almost always created by an incompatibility between the flats versus either the lights or the bias/darkflats.

Yes, this is my standard workflow all time. Loading lights, masterdark/bias and adding the fresh taken flats for calibration.

Pixel dimensions are the same.

All flats were shot with the same sensor gain and offset as the bias. NINA Version was indeed different.

So you would recommend to take new MasterDark/Bias after each NINA update? Fortunately for me, I was able to calibrate the lights manually in Pixinsight so that not all the shots were lost.

Best Regards

Christian

Hi Christian, @gru89

Okay, thank you very much for all the feedback.

Another reason for the master flat not being used, could be the following:

In 1) load you may have enabled the multi-channel/filter mode, then if your flats/masterflat do not have the same filter tag as the lights, they will not be applied to your lights. Maybe that explains it? You can overrule the filter tag when loading the flats, just make sure that they have the same filter tag. Once loaded, you can see all these details in the frame list panel in the frame column. You can see if the master flat is attached to the lights as well.

Maybe this solves it?

Hi Mabula,

thanks for your response! That could be a valid option, yes! That would explain why I had this problem in the past, at most with H-alpha images.

I will give it a try after work and give you a short feedback.

Best Regards

Christian
