UPDATE FROM MABULA

I have had a very rough 2 months unfortunately health wise. I was struck 3x in a row with bacterial infections. The second infection occurred  after a routine hospital checkup and I became very sick. I had to rest and take a lot of antibiotics. Once I was recovering and restarting work 1 month ago, I again became sick. The infection was not yet gone, so even more antibiotics and rest was needed. Needless to say, it took a lot of my energy and I needed a lot of rest.

Finally, the infection is really gone and my energy is coming back step-by-step now and I have started work again. I am terribly sorry to have kept you waiting for support. I will address all outstanding questions and e-mails step-by step and will be on the forum daily from today.

APP 2.0.0-beta47 will come soon as well, a lot of work was already completed before I became very ill, so the release is also nearly ready for you. Beta47 will be much faster actually. Many workflows will be more than 2x faster, mosaics can even be 10x faster than before because registration really received a major boost... all compared to beta46.  Before I release it, I will make sure that everything is working properly and then I will release it.

Hello,

today I tried to stack a 2-panel mosaic (2x100 Light frames). I stopped the registration after ~4hours (procesed ~2000 of ~19000 tasks).

I'm using the beta29-Version on my pc with

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 16-Core Processor 4.50 GHz / 64gb Ram. Allocated 31 of 32 threads and Ram accordingly.

In the register tab I have the following settings:

scale start at 5, end at 12 and followed the recommendations of APP.

Is there a way to speed up the registration?

All the best SK

Stefan

2 panel mosaics usually register reasonably quickly. I'm guessing you may have tried to register all 200 frames at once. That will take forever.

Instead, you should load, register and integrate all frames for panel 1 as a normal integration. Clear the data and repeat for all frames in panel 2. Then load the two unstretched integrations as if they are lights (with no calibration data) and do a mosaic registration and integration. As long as there is a resonable overlap it should work fine.

I have raised questions on this forum in the past about whether light pollution reduction should be done before or after the mosaic is created - I ended up trying it both ways and picking the one I liked best.

regards

JC

Hi Stefan @stefan7777gmx-de,

Thank you very much for your question.

It is like John @connor231 (thanks John!)  indicates, first make 2 integrations per mosaic panel with regular registration. Then make a 2 panel mosaic with the 2 integrated files. Since it is only 2-panel, you can even skip the mosaic mode I think.

What happens if you keep the registration mode on normal versus mosaic? Maybe all is fine and quick then?

The mosaic registration mode is only needed when there will be frames/exposures/panels that do not overlap at all with the reference frame. Otherwise the normal registration mode should and will work.

Please check our mosaic tutorial for all tips:

Works almost perfect (less then 3 mins) - just some small cosmetics needed
