UPDATE FROM MABULA
I have had a very rough 2 months unfortunately health wise. I was struck 3x in a row with bacterial infections. The second infection occurred after a routine hospital checkup and I became very sick. I had to rest and take a lot of antibiotics. Once I was recovering and restarting work 1 month ago, I again became sick. The infection was not yet gone, so even more antibiotics and rest was needed. Needless to say, it took a lot of my energy and I needed a lot of rest.
Finally, the infection is really gone and my energy is coming back step-by-step now and I have started work again. I am terribly sorry to have kept you waiting for support. I will address all outstanding questions and e-mails step-by step and will be on the forum daily from today.
APP 2.0.0-beta47 will come soon as well, a lot of work was already completed before I became very ill, so the release is also nearly ready for you. Beta47 will be much faster actually. Many workflows will be more than 2x faster, mosaics can even be 10x faster than before because registration really received a major boost... all compared to beta46. Before I release it, I will make sure that everything is working properly and then I will release it.
Hi, I encountered an error when trying to apply flat frames so I tried with default settings, 1 light and 1 flat frame. The flat frame seems to be causing the problem, I've tried with dark flats and bias and it worked fine.
Which APP version are you using?
@vincent-mod I’m using the latest version for intel Mac. 2.0.0.beta12
Hi @astropolo,
Do the flat and light have the same raw dimensions and are they created in the camera or with capture software?
Mabula
Hi @mabula-admin, the flat and the light have the same raw dimensions and were created in the camera. I've tested with Sony files (lights and flats) and didn't got the problem.
Hi Mauricio @astropolo,
Okay, can you share the problem with us so we can investigate and solve this a.s.a.p. ?
Can you upload 5 lights, 5 flats, 5 bias and 5 darks?

Please make a folder with your name and issue, like Mauricio-Flat-issue and let me know once uploaded 😉

Hi Mauricio @astropolo,
I tested with 2.0.0-beta13 and everything is working fine when I load the 5 lights, 5 bias, 5 darks and 5 flats.
Is the error happening when you load a single flat directly as a masterflat perhaps? (I just tested and this also works fine)
Is your Working Directory on an internal or external drive ?
Did you upload flats that create the problem on your sytem?
Mabula
Thanks @mabula-admin for reviewing it that fast!
Good to know it's working on another machine. I didn't load the flats as the masterflat and I was using an external drive as directory. Now I changed it to the main hard drive and I'm still getting the error with only 1 light and 1 flat.
I'm using a Mac with Ventura 13.1.
I'll try on a windows machine to see if it works ok. Not sure what config on the computer can make this error happen with the flat frame.
Dear @astropolo,
That flat file _DSF3552.RAF on which it happens in your screenshot was not uploaded, maybe you can upload that one so I can test it?
The problem should definitely not be Operating System dependent.
Mabula
@mabula-admin I used one of the 20 flats I had from that session ( I had the same problems with flats from another day).
Just tried with 1 of each (light, dark, flat, bias) from the ones uploaded and same thing is happening.
Uploading recorded steps.
Hi @astropolo,
Thanks for the video 😉
I did exactly the same as you showed and no problem on Windows, so maybe it is OS dependent, which makes it more weird.
I will test now on macOS to see if the error does occur there.
Mabula
Hi @mabula-admin, I was able to create a Master Flat on Windows machine using the same Flats I was trying on Mac. For now I can create the Master Flat on Windows and then continue with all the processing on Mac.
Hi @mabula-admin, I was able to reproduce the same issue on windows with new flat frames taken today. Not sure if it's related to being taken at different Iso than the lights.
Was able to reproduce the same issue on Windows with the previous Flats uploaded, not sure how I could get one Master Bias the first time I've tried on Windows.
Did this ever get resolved?
I am getting the same error (NormalizeCFAChannel out of bounds) when I include flats. No errors if I just include lights, darks, and bias frames.
APP version 2.0.0 beta 26
Platform: MacBook Pro with M1Max
OS: Mac Sonoma 14.1
Frames: Raw files (.RAF) from Fuji X-T3
Thanks,
Ken
Hi Ken @doylemac-com,
Thank you very much for reporting this. The issue was not resolved because we could not produce the error ourselves with the data that @astropolo provided somehow and I have not run into this isuse myself with our large testing dataset.
If you can provide your data, I will be happy to solve this a.s.a.p. ! Can you upload the data here:
https://upload.astropixelprocessor.com/
username: uploadData
password: uploadTestData
Please make a folder like KenDoyle-NormalizeCFAChannel-issue
and let me know once uploaded. Please let me know what settings i need to set to have this error pop-up (like use defaults and perhaps a non-defaults setting?)
Mabula
@mabula-admin Thanks Mabula.
I've uploaded two of each - lights, darks, flats, bias - which is sufficient to demonstrate the bug.
I simply Load the files on tab 1 (light, dark flat, bias), then go to tab 2, using all of the defaults, and click on the "SAVE (calibrated) Light frames" button. It chugs away for a while and then the error occurs.
Ken
Hi Ken @doylemac-com,
Thank you very much, I will investigate and fix a.s.a.p 😉 We have received the upload in good order, thank you very much !
Mabula
Hi @astropolo & @doylemac-com,
Can you check with the latest APP 2.0.0-beta35? This issue has been fixed previously in beta34:
- Fixed Fuji X-Trans RAF ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException in ImageNormalizer
As mentioned here https://www.astropixelprocessor.com/community/main-forum/astro-pixel-processor-crashes-when-loading-fuji-raw-files/#post-32320 when trying to normalize light or flat frames from Fuji X-Trans RAF files, APP could throw an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException in the ImageNormalizer module. This bug has been fixed in calibration, normalization and integration.
Please accept my apologies for the late bug fix. It should work fine now though.
