Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.
It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and itĀ will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...
Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.
Hi Mabula,
Could you please, prepare APP 1.078 version with disabled OpenGL for Linux distros?
New version have a same problem with OpenGL and AMD GFX cards like we have in thread APP 1.077 not run on Kubuntu 18.04 LTS
BTW It looks like the thread with opened bug with bugzilla stuck and nothing is happening š
Hi Pekdar @pekdar,
I can't simply disable OpenGL for Linux because on most configurations it does work. The bug is on old ATI/AMD graphical chipsets with the latest Mesa drivers.
You will need to grab a version with OpenGL disabled here, I did build it 😊 :

Hi Pekdar @pekdar,
At the moment, the bug has been reported, but I can't solve this. The bug could even be in the Linux Mesa drivers. We will have to be patient on what the OpenGL library developers find.
Mabula
Thanks for APP version with disabled OpenGL, I appreciate š
Can you recommend some graphics cards for APP with use under Linux? Or it can be any graphics card that has no problem with OpenGL initialization bug like few AMD graphics cards has?
I've heard that you have a plan to use GPU chips for some calculation task with APP ?
I have an idea / proposal to easy implement with quick improvement, to resolve future situations like we had until now with affected AMD graphics cards.
Could you implement a function checking does APP is run with argument f.e. "-opengldisable" in command line?
The result of working would be running APP in CPU mode. I think, this could be helpful a lot and user will have a possibility to fast solve his troubles with OpenGL, in case of AMD affected cards or other reasons.
