UPDATE FROM MABULA

I have had a very rough 2 months unfortunately health wise. I was struck 3x in a row with bacterial infections. The second infection occurred  after a routine hospital checkup and I became very sick. I had to rest and take a lot of antibiotics. Once I was recovering and restarting work 1 month ago, I again became sick. The infection was not yet gone, so even more antibiotics and rest was needed. Needless to say, it took a lot of my energy and I needed a lot of rest.

Finally, the infection is really gone and my energy is coming back step-by-step now and I have started work again. I am terribly sorry to have kept you waiting for support. I will address all outstanding questions and e-mails step-by step and will be on the forum daily from today.

APP 2.0.0-beta47 will come soon as well, a lot of work was already completed before I became very ill, so the release is also nearly ready for you. Beta47 will be much faster actually. Many workflows will be more than 2x faster, mosaics can even be 10x faster than before because registration really received a major boost... all compared to beta46.  Before I release it, I will make sure that everything is working properly and then I will release it.

Just reporting that I just had my first full Windows crash and reboot (no blue screen even!) using APP for as long as I can remember.

I was doing a quick integration and HaRGB combination and had saved the raw combined FITS - then I went to save the stretched version as well (something I normally do) and the system froze before rebooting - no file save window appeared and not even a blue screen so no message or dump file. I checked to see if there was a new version and updated just prior to doing the sub calibration/combination

I was doing some data analysis for work earlier so APP wasn't the only program open but this workstation isn't short of system resources. I didn't touch the 47 out of 48 threads - I'll drop that back a bit in case it caused Windows to choke. I have to get back to some work so I can't repeat the process for the moment but will take another look later.

These are the workstation specs.  Windows 10  (build 19044), Threadripper 3960X, 128GB RAM (not ECC), Quadro GV100 GPU

Best regards

Pam

Thanks for sharing, this does sound like a system issue possibly, which can happen sometimes. What version of APP are you using right now?

@vincent-mod

the latest beta release. It’s just a little odd as it’s a long time since I had any system crash that bypassed the blue screen. Cosmic ray perhaps? 😂

Ha! Well you never know. 🙂 If it happens more often, please post here and we can maybe have a closer look.
