Apr 9 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 has been released !
It has a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration, for mosaics even faster! We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. Improved Outlier Rejection with LN 2.0 rejection. macOS CMD+A works now in file chooser ! And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming hours...
Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.
1.061 was a fantastic release and you deserve a rest! That said, just in case 1.062 is going to be more than a bug fix release... inquiring minds want to know, what cool new features are you brewing up for us next 🙂 ?
Really enjoying APP now and letting others know about it. Your excellent work will be noticed.
Clear skies,
Rowland

Thank you very much ;-). Yes APP 1.061 involved a lot of work and there are a couple of bugs found in the multi-channel/session implementations, which will be fixed in APP 1.062.
Right now, I am also implementing a new image viewer screen using GPU drawing using OpenGL 😉 . The image drawing was done without hardware acceleration up unitl now. And zooming in/out on images wasn't very efficient due to software rendering using pixelated image data. I also had to convert 32bits data to 16bits before sofware rendering was possible... so APP 1.062 will probably have OpenGL drawing enabled which will really speed up the rendering of image data and the zoom in/out process by using mipmapped textures for drawing. Probably will implement the possibility to use the image viewer with histogram and sliders full screen as well while I am at it..
A new and improved version of LNC will come as well soon.
Next step, probably version after that, I will include the first algorithms that are calculated on the GPU as well to achieve drastic speed improvements in certain modules and algortihms.
My todo list is very extensive, but this shoudl give you a perspective of things to come soon 😉
Cheers,
Mabula
Sounds great Mabula! I used to work as a software development manager for a hardware company and the OS team always talked about "first a feature release, then a performance release, then repeat!" Sounds like you are doing something similar here.
Looking forward to all your future work.
