New improved internal memory controls should now work on all computers

May 1 2026: APP 2.0.0-beta43 has been released !

Improved internal memory controls (much more stable and faster on big datasets), fixed CPU image viewer, fixed Narrowband extraction demosaic algortihms.

Apr 29 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta42 has been released !

New improved Normalization engine, Fixed random crashes in integration, fixed RGB Combine & Calibrate Star Colors, fixed Narrowband extraction algorithms, new development platform with performance gains, bug fixes in the tools, etc...

Apr 14 2026: Google Pay, Apple Pay & WeChat Pay added as payment options

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Hi - using APP 2.0.0-beta 29 to integrate subs taken on ZWOASI533 with SharpCap being the capture software, Bayer pattern inverted so that "values will be correct for ..APP"

The fits files all look fine in terms of colour background in APP and ASIFits viewer. Calibration, star analysis, registration, normalise and integration go without any hitch, BUT at the end of the integration step the file viewer shows an image with a bright red/orange background and the histogram is weird!

Red background in APP

Opening the same integration file in ASIFitsViewer and it looks like this - which is what I would expect

Same file in ASIFitsviewer

If I then go Tools>Calibrate Star Colour the APP display changes to:

Calibrate star colour

which is again what I would expect and i am able to process lpc-cbg-csc without any problem other than the light pollution model looks like:

Light pollution model

Which makes sense as it has to get rid of the red background

The Final APP FITS file looks great:

Final APP fits file

and ready to do the next processing steps which I do in another program

The FITS headers on the subs show:

and I have the following settings on the 0)Raw/FITS tab:

image

and as the ASI533 is a colour camera I select RGB on loading all the subs and calibration files

I have tried using GBRG on the APP 0)Raw/FITS tab and that does not solve it; the integration looks like this - pinky colour cast:

image

and the calibrate star colours goes horribly wrong:

At least I get the "right" result despite the weird colour background - but can anyone help and explain what I am doing wrong or what is going wrong?

(this happens on all integrations - not just this one.)

Laptop - Using windows 11 on intel i7 11800H processor with 16GB Ram; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060Laptop GPU

Sorry it is all screen grabs, the FITS files are too large

 Thanks in Advance

Julian

Do you have "Neutralize-BG" checked from the main interface over to the right just below the check box for stretch? It looks like no from your screenshots. Give that a try.

Hi - thanks for the reply. I don't have "Neutralize-BG" checked but I think I have found the cause..... SharpCap changed its behaviour and I did not pick it up:

Old SharpCap Version:

Newer SharpCap version:

Will test this next time I have clear skies but I am reasonably confident that this is the cause.
Impressed that APP somehow managed to deal with this with RGB images. The clue to this as the likely solution came when I took some subs with the L-eNhance filter and stacked them
