Quality score, befo...

Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Hello!

Today I decided to run again the whole workflow step by step and not with automatic selections.  Now I am in step 6 Integration and here is my question: The "best" approach is to check the Quality Score and then decide how many subs to stack?

For example I have 269 subs from M31, 4 different sessions (all the other capture settings same)

If I right click - sort on quality I get this back. So If for example want not to include subs with lower than a specific score, I have to adjust the slider on the 6 Integration tab accordingly, correct?

If that is correct, I find it a little bit confusing to calculate that, cause I can see that the sorting is per session and not for all subs at once. For every session the sorting resets.

Am I getting it right?

You can decide to stack less images by sliding the "lights to stack" in the integration tab and then APP will throw out the lowest quality. You can also just leave them in, setting it to "quality" will give much less importance to the lowest quality frames, but they still help to reduce the noise overall.

@vincent-mod

More subs will help to reduce the noise, but if those subs are not so good? For example if 2-3 subs have not so good stars? Wouldn't they "help" to create issues to the final image?

(garbage in - garbage out)

Yes, but if you set the integration to non automatic and on "Quality", then those frames will not influence the end result much (if you have enough in total) but will help in reducing the noise.
