Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Hi Community,

I am working on an image of Cave Nebula.   I have integrations for LHaRGB.   I have tried all the standard blend options in the RGB Combine tool and decided I prefer the result of HaRGB1/2 options as the best starting point for further processing.

My problem is that when I get to Calibrate Star Colours the red nebula colouring turns very blue or magenta which then seems impossible to correct.

I think the reason for this problem is that the star colours in the RGB Combine output are all Orange/Yellow causing CSC to make a major shift to Blue to achieve a more correct balance.

Assuming my reasoning is basically correct, can anyone suggest what adjustments to make in RGB Combine to increase the proportion of Blue in the Star colours?   I find the bg sliders in the Combine tools very effective for adjusting background colours,  and the above strength slider for adjusting mid-range colours, but there seems no way to markedly adjust the star colours without also greatly changing the low and mid-range colours.    Unless I am missing something CSC tool always adjusts colours across the full gamut not just the stars, so it seems to me there is a gap in coverage here.

Maybe CSC should have slider to adjust how much the star colour adjustments should be applied down through the luminosity range?

Mike

The problem with star color correction is that it requires broadband data, so when mixing in narrow-band, it might not be correct. What happens when you color correct the RGB, save it and then add some narrowband data?
