Was wondering why my flat frames will sometimes load, and sometimes not? Any ideas?

Thanks,

@rockinrod Rodney, that’s hard to tell without more info. What version of APP are you on? Do the same flats sometimes load and sometimes not? Or is it always the same ones that don’t load? Do you get an error message if they don’t load? Please be as verbose as you can.

Thanks, Wouter

V1.082 Trial Version...I would have to duplicate the scenario again to get the error message. But I just closed and reopened the program and they loaded this time.

I noticed that it happens when I hit 'All' to clear them out and try to reload more for whatever reason. That's when they don't go in. My Light frames just did the same thing when i experimented with them...Loaded 5 lights, hit all and it went to "0", then they will not go back in.

The frames are still in the bottom window and appear to be shaded in after I hit the all or clear button. Maybe that tells you something.

I can't remember the whole message but it mentioned something about the wrong pixel size or something of that nature.

I did my Flats using my ASI294MC Pro cooled, same as my lights. Same camera.

Rodney, that is expected behaviour. When you hit the All button, the text in the button changes to None. It is an indication of what files are marked for processing and it helps with clearing out many files at the same time. If you click the button again, the text will change back to All and you’ll see the number change from zero to the actual number of files loaded.

Here's the Flats error message i got earlier...Evidently I have to have the flats Gain the same as the Bias, and exposure times the same... I don't recall doing this with DSS or Nebulosity....Guess I'll need to redo my Bias and Flats.

Hi Rodney, it says either bias of the same gain or darkflats of the same gain and exposure time as the flats. Bias frames typically have the shortest time possible while flats don't.

@wvreeven

I'm doing the exposures based on the Means number. It should work...Making them now, then I'll try a few lights and stack...I'm also taking into account my different filters.

Guess I have much to learn about APP...During the calibration I cannot use just Lights and Flats. Flats get rejected...So on a hunch, I backed up and added the Bias frames with the same Flats and it worked...

I guess this is how APP works as well, I assume...Can't use one without the other.

Rodney, that’s exactly what the message in the popup means. APP indeed needs either bias or darkflats in order to be able to properly calibrate the flats. Glad to read it is working for you now.
