Hello. APP is amazing, I love it. I have just started with mosaic and that's a very strange to me coz sometimes it works good and sometimes awful. I use tutorial from ASG Astronomy on YT and did exactly how it is there and yet the outcome is like on the picture. Previously I did North America and it also sometimes was good and when I added more date it become like that. I have tried many other settings and with no better result. Can You show me where I do the mistake?

@macmil71 It really depends on the APP version you use and the settings you apply. What APP version do you use? Note that the video uses 1.082 which is a slightly old version and you should use at least 1.083-4 on Windows or 1.083-2 on Mac or Linux.

Do you load all subs in one go or do you process each panel of the mosaic separately and then try to combine them?

Can you describe the settings you use in tabs 3 to 6? In general they should be:

Tab 3: set the number of stars to 2500 or higher
Tab 4: set scale start to at least 5, set scale stop to at least 12, set registration mode to mosaic
Tab 5: set mode to advanced
Tab 6: leave integrate at automatic, enable "enable MBB" and set it to 15% or higher if necessary

Please try those settings and let us know if that works for you. Note that the tutorial on YT that you followed does not follow all of these settings, like the ones in tab 3 and particularly 5 for which it is essential to set it to advanced (!!!), and therefore you should probably not follow those steps to the letter. Whether you want to use LNC in step 6, as the video shows, depends on your data. But since your trouble seems to be with the stars, I think that modifying the settings for tabs 3 and 5 as I recommend should solve your issue.

Thank You so much! I know how boring have to be answering the same questions, I appreciate Your time and patience. Have spent two weeks trying to solve it myself. Fortunately it came to me that there are people who might help😉 The version I use is 1.083 on Mac. Can't find any other numbers for the version. I put all my subs into the lights in tab 2. But as I use L-eNhance I do extract Ha and extract OIII and combine both integration in tools tab. But it makes no difference as my problem is before the integration.  I have just set the settings You've highlighted and computer works right now. I will let You know the result.

@macmil71 OK great, let me know if this worked for you. As for the APP version, when you start APP it will display the full version at the top of the Window frame:

If it indeed just says "1.083" then please make sure to install 1.083-2 for MacOS since that contains several important bug fixes.

@wvreeven Thanks again. It works great. Although I have set in tab 4 scale start to 7 and stop to 15, and it took 35 hours of processing 😉 But outcome is very good. No whirlpools and greatly connected and composed.

@macmil71 Glad to have been of help. In cases like this, with more than 2 panels, it helps to process the panels separately and then combine them in a mosaic.

@wvreeven Ok, so I need to make them in pairs using mosaic setups, and then both make again together in the same way? Will do that. Thanks a lot!!

@macmil71 That's not what I meant. It looks like your mosaic has three panels. You seem to be loading all lights for the three panels in one go and then create the mosaic. While this is perfectly well possible in APP, it will require a lot of time, as you have noticed.

Instead, load all lights for one panel and process those. Keep the resulting integrated file. Then repeat that for the other two panels, one by one. This will leave you with three files. You can load those as lights and then create the mosaic with them. No need to load calibration data, just the three integration results for the three panels. Note that you may need to remove light pollution in the three panels before loading them to create the mosaic. That will depend on the conditions for your imaging location.

@wvreeven Oh great! I think I know now what to do. I will gather new data for Laguna and Triffid and will try that method. Here is the result of Elephant trunk - only 4hrs of exposure and 35hrs of processing 😉

@wvreeven Hello again. I have just tried the method You wrote. IT works super fast. I combined two panels of Swan nebula, but there is problem in Registering. I have placed two integration files as lights, no masters, put analyse star to 3000, in registration gave "mosaic" option, dynamic distortion correction, scale 5-12, and there pop out the comment like this:

"APP couldn't register any frame...

Please adjust star analysis parameters
and/or registration settings"

I tried to change parameters ion many places but it just can't register those frames.

@macmil71 Glad to hear that this is working much faster!

Regarding registration of the panels, can you upload them to our file server? Use this info:

@wvreeven Thank You so much! I think I did it like You've said. One suspicion I have is that those panels were made without overlapping almost. Maybe this is the problem?

@macmil71 Thanks for the upload. I found the two images on our server.

Indeed, the overlap is much too small. I loaded the two images together in an image viewer and put them next to each other so the overlap regions are right next to each other.

It looks like there is an overlap of only 5% or even less. You should aim for at least 10% and preferably 15% overlap between the images.

@wvreeven perfectly clear! Thanks a lot. I will make third panel in the middle now, so overlap will be 50% and the signal stronger👍

@wvreeven Hello! I have made the middle panel and APP registered without any problem. It is great. Thanks for the support, that mosaic option is totally awesome. I have discovered it just month ago but now I think I learned a lot how oto use it. Thanks once again.
