Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

It would be nice if we could set an automatic subframe rejection for subs where the stars weren't quite round or with other defects in them.

@imnewhere On tab 6 all the way at the top there is a slider that allows you to select the percentage of the subs to integrate. Doesn't that do what you are asking for?

@wvreeven nope, that would be fine if I were looking at slight outliers on FWHM or something, but what I am looking for is gross outliers. For instance, APP seems to weight on quality, but if you have one sub with oval stars it still integrates it and you no longer have round stars. I've had some that I sent through the whole process and ended up with bad results because I had a few bad subs due to cable drag or a meridian flip. Most of the time all my subs are good, but if I have some bad ones that will still register I want those tossed automatically if possible.

If you set it to non automatic and on Quality, does that still happen? It shouldn't with enough frames, but maybe if the flaws are really big it may still show up. But what Wouter suggests would also still work, in combination with quality (maybe set it manually to be sure APP is using that one) and then integrating like 90% or so, those bad frames should have low quality (big part of that score is the shape of the stars) and APP will throw those out.

Yep, I had a full set with cable drag and it happened. There were maybe 5 good subs out of 60.

5 good out of 60, ah, but then sorting the list (after you do registration) based on score, it should be very obvious which ones score much lower than the 5 good ones. And then you can simply set that slider Wouter mentioned all the way down to reject almost everything. The list then shows which ones are rejected. But in a case like this I would simply start over anyway.
