May 27 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta45 has been released !

Fully Multi-Threaded LNC, many improvements for the registration engine, platform upgrade, and further tuning of internal memory consumption and memory release back to OS.

Apr 14 2026: Google Pay, Apple Pay & WeChat Pay added as payment options

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Mi Michael @moviecells,

Hmm, i think in a distant past that could have mattered, but these days I think all Tiff reader implementations should be able to read TIFFs no matter the bytecode, it is very well documented.

Quick google: https://asktimgrey.com/2019/02/20/byte-order-for-tiff-images/

https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/tiff-question-pc-vs-mac-quot-byte-order-quot/td-p/2450555

Maybe an Adobe package can help you change the byte order? Load it into Photoshop and save with the other byteorder?

So then StarTools can not read a TIFF created on macOS ?

I have never run into this issue with the TIFF Reader/Writer that APP uses, so I can only assume that it writes in both byte-orders depending on the platform and will read both on all platforms.

Hi

@mabula-admin

Would seem APP is saving in MAC format then but i am on a PC on windows. Star tools gives me this error if i try load a APP tiff, yes i could load in a Photoshop and save it again but its another step though it could be changed on in APP i did a forum search and back in 2018 it was reported you could now change byte order but may be it changed again. Here the error when trying to load a APP 16bit tiff file.

Stools

Dear Michael @moviecells,

We never provided the option that you can choose the byte order for a Tiff file. At least I can not remember that. Issues like this are more than a decade old, see the links indicate in my first response.

This is just a very old problem with TIFF files and any Tiff reader should be able to handle both byte-orders, so for me this is an issue that you want to have fixed in StarTools, rather than ask us to provide the option to choose the byte order when you save a tiff.

For me, this is rather a bug and shortcoming in StarTools than an APP problem.
