Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.
It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...
Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

I would like to start with saying thank you to the team for their hard work. APP is my favorite Astrotool.Â
Now to my question.Â
I would love to see a updated Roadmap of the things that are planned to come to app. Maybe there already is one and I just missed it.Â
Another thing that I would like to know is if it will ever be possible that community members develop solutions for app. The fact that you can use starnet or the new noisexterminator in pixinsight adds incredible value to the software. Would be nice if app could also allow for such solutions.Â

We will publish an updated roadmap at some point in the coming weeks, but I can tell you that the following major changes are on it:
APP 2.0 stable - save/load settings and projects
after which we have the following:
- Full printable documentation
- noise reduction tool
- dynamic deconvolution
- deglobalize menu 0), so you can set demosaic options per batch of frames.
- sharpening tool
- better contrast tool
- HDR in RGB Combine Tool
- Plate Solving
- completely new user interface, we are already working on this...
- completely new preview filter with faster filters and easier controls, also already working on this
- Completely new registration engine with new and faster mosaic algorithms. The new registration engine will be much easier for the user with less options and it will perform better. Work on this is already ongoing as well. This will be for 3.0 probably.
- many smaller items ...
Using externally made software in APP might happen as well down the road.
