Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

I am getting the error message listed in the subject line but my flats and dark flats (made in N.I.N.A.) are of the same gain and exposure time and I confirmed it in the fits image headers.  So why am I getting this message?

Did you load the dark flats with the darkflat button, can you confirm all settings are indeed the same (including offset)?

Yes- dark flats loaded with dark flat button and offset the same.  I can re-run it to see if it happens again but my camera settings have not changed for months and I have not had this issue in the past.

Interesting, yes please restart APP just to be sure and if it happens again I'll ask for your data to see if I can figure it out.

ps. are you using the latest APP version?

I just uploaded the latest APP version and re-ran my images.  Interesting in that the error did not appear during calibration but I received a warning during star analysis that my images are underexposed or I have a light leak in my optical system.  I am imaging a galaxy (M94) under my Bortle 7 sky (I usually only do narrowband) on a C11" EdgeHD @ f/10 with a ASI6200mm Pro (0.27 arcsec/pixel) with average/below average seeing.  This usually leads to some oversampling but I never have trouble with NB imaging on this system.

As you can see in the attached luminance stacked and fully stretched image, it does not look good.  I used a gain of 100 and offset of 50 with 120s exposures, which is pretty standard by those using this camera for LRGB.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Great, so the error was fixed. This warning is just to inform you that you can get a better result when you expose for longer, 100 pixels clipping isn't terrible, so you can continue with that but I'd say to go for 180s instead. That may solve this issue as well and improve your data at the same time.

The gradient you have in the result is pretty strong, but you may be able to get that sorted with the LP- (Light Pollution) tool in the tools tab.
