Beta 2.0 Beta 6 Iss...

Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Very slow to bring up the file selection windows when loading Lights, Flats,Darks ....

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give us defaults.    99.9% of the time I use FIT files.   gets tiring selecting this each time I load files.

@bobw55 Hi Bob,

Are there chance any remote volumes on Windows that have not been mounted? That usually is the main reason for the file selector of APP to be slow.

Thanks, Wouter

I run an External USB 4TB HD that is always connected and a External USB memory stick that contains my image files.

@bobw55 That may be the issue then. External HDs are known to be slow though I wouldn't expect APP to have issues with that. Still, can you try opening the file choose dialog without those two external disks connected and see if that helps?

It is the addition of the USB 4TB external HD.

Never had this issue on previous full releases.

I hope this gets fixed and defaults settings are added.

@bobw55 We won't know if the external disks are the problem until you try and share the result with us here.

I just did  see above

Things improved with the 4TB drive disconncected.   But this is where some of my calibration frames are stored.

@bobw55 Sorry, I misunderstood. Thanks for trying this out. I will notify Mabula to see if he can investigate and fix this. What OS are you on?

@bobw55 Thanks. This seems to be related to file chooser issues in JDK 17, which is used by APP 2.0.0-beta6, reported by others on this forum. Mabula and Vincent are investigating possible solutions.

Hi Bob @bobw55,

That is really awesome ! Thank you very much for your feedback 🙂 ! I am very glad that this delay with the file chooser on Windows 11 is fixed as well now.
