Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.
It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...
Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.
Hi,
It seems that there is an issue with the beta 3 and Sony Raw files.
Launching APP this message pops up : "We are unable to load the LibRaw library for raw support for Sony ARW files".
And yes, APP is unable to see any Sony ARW files, so they cannot be loaded.
David
@dav78 Which Sony camera do you have? These are the Sony cameras that have been tested:
https://www.astropixelprocessor.com/community/camerasupport/sony-arw-tested-camera-models/
Is your camera in that list?
Ok, so it’s maybe an issue with MacOS.
I use an Imac with MacOS big sure.
there was no problem with APP previous versions.

My cameras are well supported : nex3-n, A7s and A7III

I don't see the A7s and the A7III in the list of tested cameras. Can you upload raw files of those cameras as requested in the link I posted so we can test them? Thanks!
@wvreeven, they are 😉, ILCE-7S and ILCE-7III are A7s and A7III.
I cannot send any file for now, i’ll do later today if it can help.
The issue seems to be part of the libraw library that cannot be loaded when APP starts.
@dav78 Thanks for the clarification. I am discussing the issue with Mabula and indeed it is the lack of LibRaw in the macOS version if APP 1.083-beta3. It works on High Sierra but unfortunately not on Big Sur. Mabula will create a 1.083-beta4 version with a working LibRaw for all macOS versions.

Great! Thank you all the APP team for the support and your work!

@dav78 David, I tested on macOS Monterey (12.1) and there APP 1.083-beta3 works fine when trying to load CR2 files (for which APP also uses libraw). Is there any chance you can upgrade to Monterey? If not, is there any indication that libraw cannot be loaded in System Preferences -> Security & Privacy?
I don't want to upgrade my OS for now 😉 .
I don't see any restriction in security & privacy, but maybe you can tell me where to look exactly.
Here are the pop up message when APP starts, and a screen shot of the open file window (it's possible to open canon or Nikon files, but not Sony's).
With APP previous versions I had no issue with libraw library.
I have deleted and installed again APP, same issue.
So I think I'll have to upgrade my OS. Have to check before if everything will be ok with, especially my windows partition.
For now I'll go with a previous stable version of APP.
Mabula will at least compile a few different beta versions for Mac users with different systems, maybe that helps you in this case as well. Stay tuned.
@vincent-mod
Happy new year, health and clear sky !
I've tried beta4, but it still can't open Sony Raw files with macOS Big Sur.
With 1.082 it works.
Hi Dav78,
Please try this new MacOS version 1.083-beta4.2 , it should have fixed the issue:

Hi Mabula,
Happy new year !
Thank you for this fixed beta4.
I can again open every Sony Raw files I have.
And all the improvements seem to work, that's a great work.
Just one thing I noticed, but I have to make further tests to be sure, the exported picture color doesn't seem to match what I can see in APP's screen (that was the case in old APP versions, the tiff or jpeg exported picture has less saturated color).
David
Hi David @dav78,
Excelellent ! Thank you for your feedback 😉
I will check the color saturation 😉 I am assuming that you save with an ICC color Profile, right? Have you verified that the other image viewer (like Photoshop) is actually showing the image with that profile applied? By default, Photoshop is not doing that (which is beyond me).
Mabula
