Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.
It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...
Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.
Hello guys.
Can I please have some help regarding my mosaic.
The mosaic is composed of 15 panels, 10 hours/panel shot with both my setups.
On one setup I'm using a color camera and on the other a mono camera.
With the color camera I used my Tri-band filter and the Ha filters and with the mono I used my Ha and Oiii filters.
Every time I completed a panel, for the OSC, I saved the extracted Ha and Oiii from the calibrated images shot with the Tri-band and saved the extracted Ha from the calibrated Ha images shot with the OSC, and for the mono, I saved the calibrated Ha and Oiii shots.
So now, for each panel I have 5 folders with 30 calibrated files each, one Ha extracted from the Tri-band shot with OSC, one Oiii extracted from the same Tri-band, one Ha extracted from the Ha shot with the OSC, one Ha shot with the mono and one Oiii shot with the mono.
When I finished 4 of the panels I tried stitching them together but I could only get a good result when I put all the files at once, I never got a clean result when I tried to do it with the already finished individual panels.
Because I could never do it with the finished panels, I didn't bother anymore so I decided to throw them all in one go and hope for the best. It's been a week since it started and today it wasn't even half way through the registering so I decided to stop. I have 2250 files all together, 150 for each panel and I don't know what to do.
Could you please help me out with a workflow that I can use if I am to integrate all the Ha and Oiii for each panel and then stitch them all together into the 15 panel mosaic?
Thanks
Emil
Hi Emil,
Yes, throwing all data together is not the way to go as the algorithm gets overwhelmed with statistical analysis in that case. So making separate panels is indeed a good way, could you show some screenshots of the different integrations you tried?

I don't have the integrations that I tried, sorry, I deleted them.
I managed to stack all the panels individually and now trying to stitch them together but I still cant get a clean final image
The Oiii stack looks really bad
Here are the settings I used
In tab 4 your start and end scales are way too low. Try 5 and 12 and up the end scale if that still doesn't work. Also try triangles in tab 5. For the rest it is very hard to see what settings you have used. Would it be possible for you to simply take a screenshot and crop out the section that matters?

I changed to 5 and 12 and set to triangles instead

I took your advice and this is what I got
Mm, so what is the overlap for instance between the panels? Maybe try this again with the settings Wouter gave, and no dynamic distortion correction?

I tried again with his settings but not triangles and it doesn't look as bad but I the panes are still not blending properly and the Oiii stack looks horrible
Mmm, I think this is a case where I would need to have the data to try myself and having a good look at the panels. Do you mind sharing a few subs for each panel for me to try out? Calibrated frames are fine.
Go to https://upload.astropixelprocessor.com and use upload1 (or upload2 till 5) as username and password will then be the same as the username.
Create a directory named “emyliano2000-mosaic” and upload in there. Thank you!

I have no idea which ones to upload. I have 1800 subs shot with 2 different setups, one OSC and one, mono. I blended 2 of the panels and it worked ok on both Ha and Oiii but I have done it loading all the subs at once.
I can upload the calibrated, stacked, Ha and Oiii panels and give you a link in private. one stacked panel has around 90mb
Yes let's start with the panels then. The upload above can be used or a private one if you prefer. No dropbox please though as I'm always having problems downloading from there. Wetransfer might be good?
@vincent-mod yes, they're uploading on wetransfer now. Will pm you the link a bit later.
Thanks
Emil
