Hi,
considering an owner´s licence, I have just 2 questions, please: 1) what would be the timeframe for the next major upgrade? 2) what would would be the major upgrade fee? I am a bit concerned there will be additional charges within a short timeframe, as I had seen some threads on current fundamental coding work (Vulkan& Metal) etc. - maybe you consider including a 12 month entitlement for all upgrades (incl major) to mitigate this risk for the owner's licence. I think APP would be worth the 150 if one doesnt need to fear to buy a product which will be outdated quickly.
Regards, Jochen
Thanks Jochen,
Those are some good points, @mabula-admin can chime in, I think it's always difficult to decide what constitutes a proper upgrade that merits an additional fee. Personally I would say something like a whole new post-processing feature or workflow maybe.. but again, I'm not the devloper. 😉
Thanks Vincent, for prompt reply, but unfortunately that didn't answer my question. I'd appreciate a rough idea on frequency and cost of the major upgrade. For instance my RAW editing software, (DXO PhotoLab) has a similar model to the APP Owner license. Their owner license is 129.- and they release a major update every 2 years which sets me back some 50.-. This gives me a clear expectation about the total cost of the product. This would help to compare the cost of APPs rental model vs. owner model.
I fully understand Jochen, I've asked Mabula to chime in.
I didn´t receive a on this response yet, I appreciate Mabula is busy with 0.75 release.
However, I am now unsure about owners license. Buying now, will release 0.75 require more payment or will it be included/considered minor?
Mid term he really should provide a bit more clarity on major update costs and cycles
Sorry about that, I've messaged Mabula so I hope he's available soon (it's indeed very busy before this release).
