What about this? I tend to prefer things on the understated side but I do think you are right in this case and that adding more saturation increased some of the detail in the color transitions, for instance. Let me know which version you prefer. 😀

Looks great to me! Very good not to push the processing, that can indeed create artefacts, but in your first image I think you were on a too careful side. 🙂
