Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Registration fails, normalization fails, integration canceled.

I just got a set from a telescope I booked in Australia and I have never had problems stacking images from this source before, but right now I am getting a failure on everything from registration onward. Any ideas? I have never had this happen.

Just a thought.  Are the frames you are trying to register actually Lights?  I don't know the full file naming conventions (or if they are user selectable) but my Lights from this source are typically like this:

calibrated-T09-mes-M8-20200612-234502-Red-BIN1-W-300-001.fit

I am wondering if you have loaded Dark frames  by mistake.

@mestutters

They are all lights. All of them come calibrated from telescope.live

Mmm, online services sometimes do have issues with the calibration data, so I would expect something happened there. Can you download the uncalibrated lights and separate calibration data?

Downloading the calibration frames and running them separately seemed to work. This was the first time I ran into this.

Yes, so it may be that some of the calibration data is at fault. Could be interesting to contact the online service to see as well.

Oddly, I experienced this same problem myself today, using my own data.  Cannot recall ever seeing it before.

For some reason, after Analyse Stars, it seemed that APP had not auto selected a Reference Frame.

As soon as I selected a Reference Frame - Tab 4 Register, set reference - APP ran through the remaining stages without issue.
