Apr 9 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 has been released !

It has a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration, for mosaics even faster! We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. Improved Outlier Rejection with LN 2.0 rejection. macOS CMD+A works now in file chooser ! And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming hours...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

I get red artefacts when I do a mosaic of pre-stacked panels with MBB without LNC. I'm using average quality, local normalization rejection, no LNC.

I use the last version 2 beta 26

I also noticed that one panel in registered mode is white (while the raw mode is fine), this creates a final andromeda with a darker part for some reason. removing this panel I solve the darker part issue, but the red artefacts remain. I guess this is another bug unrelated to the red part

Hi David @davidenitti,

Thank you very much for sharing this, this looks like an issue with the data in the mosaic panels that you created somehow. The raw image screenshot show stacking artefcats on top left and bottom right which should normally be no issue whatsoever...

Maybe you can upload the mosaic panels here and I will test myself. Please upload that result as well that shows the issues in the mosaic.

Please make a folder with your name and issue like : DavideNitti-Mosaic-Issue

and let me know once uploaded 😉

@mabula-admin now that I think about it, the panels I stacked together were computed using an older version. maybe I should re-generate the single panels with the latest version.

Hi @davidenitti,

Okay, yes, please try to reprocess everything with the latest 2.0.0-beta26 😉 in beta26 a bug was fixed in Multi-Band Blending that might have caused your issue I think 😉

Please let us know if all is okay now.

@mabula-admin I put in the DavideNitti-Mosaic-Issue folder.

I realised that the issue is caused by some frame with short exposure.

sorry the delay, I didn't reprocess all the frames. each frame is ok by itself.

I used mbb 30% and reference frame 2023-07-27_andromeda_pan2-1-lpc-cbg.fits
