Hi Vincent and Mabula,
As you knw I have been having problems with OpenGL3 on my lptop
but when using CPU everything seems to work fine. Until tonight I tried
to save an image treated with tools ( shows good in the view area ) as
a TIFF file. Then when loading this file into Pixinsight it shows again as
when I select Opengl3 but mirrored.
Please see image attached, this is the resulting tiff file loaded into
Pixinsight!
Second image when select opengl when processing in APP
First image when loading TIFF into Pixinsight
Image shown when selecting CPU when processing in APP
Thanks for any help with this!
Regards,
Lammertus
Apologies for replying late, been sick (all fine again 😉 ).
Ok, this is very weird, could you share your stack result (the fits one) and the tif that shows up wrong to us? Go to our server and login with name and password: appuser then please create a directory called "Lammertus-weirdfits". Thank you!
Hello Vincent, I hope you are well and it has not been something serious!!
With respect of the problem mentioned above, I did do a cleanup of my
harddisk in the mean time so the original processing was gone! Therefore
I redid everything from scratch and the only problem left is now the way
the resulting stack is shown in APP using openGL3 ( see attached image ).
For the rest the result now loads fine in Pixinsight, also after eliminating
the stars using Starnet++ everything works ok.
I hope the CPU mode will always be in APP since my laptop is likely too old
in order to work with openGL3.
Best regards and stay well!
Lammertus
I don't think so, it might still get here as my wife works as a GP. Yikes but not entirely unavoidable. Thanks!
Well, annoying still. I'm not sure if this issue can be easily solved, I'll tag Mabula @mabula-admin
But yes, it's likely that your GPU is a bit too old for OpenGL4, that would help.
Hi Vincent and Mabula,
Finally I found the problem of my laptop: .... me!
I found the configuration panel of the NVIDIA graphics and went into
advanced configuration. There I have an option to select the default graphics
engine to be used and it was set to automatic. In that case the integrated graphics
( Intel 3000 chip ) are used and not the NVIDIA giving me these strange problems
with OPENGL3. Now that the default graphics engine is changed to NVIDIA the
aplication ( APP ) comes up with OPENGL4 and runs fine.
So everything is OK, it was my lack of knowledge to configure this aspect of my
laptop. See atached image, I'm happy now!!!
Stay well!
Lammertus
Oh, that is great!! Ok, very good to know as I didn't know that could be a thing, thanks!
Hi @lammertus & @vincent-mod,
Great that you have solved the OpenGL issue on your laptop @lammertus 😉
OpenGL 3 implementations are quite problematic unfortunately. I am working with the OpenGL library developers to solve these issues though for users that only have such an Intel 3000 chipset 😉 So we will definitely try to solve this anyway.
Kind regards,
Mabula
