Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.
It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...
Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.
To borrow from Maxwell Smart, I got THAT close! Just 10% more to finish integration of my 406 frames. I did get masters for the individual sessions. I had allocated APP 32 gigs, but not quite enough. I upped it to 48 gigs but had to shut down to access it and restart but all the in-memory stuff appears to be gone. What do I have to do to resume?
You mean you got masters for the calibration frames? Well that's a start. Are you using virtual memory? It probably should work, but I'm not very confident on that, how's APP handling that @mabula-admin ?
I have 64 GB actual memory. I reserved 32GB for APP, and I didn't notice it was approaching that until too late. I'd like a way to recover more gracefully. 🙂Â
I had it set up to integrate by filter and total. I got the by filter masters, it crashed when integrating all 406 subs. Kinda crazy to do that, but just wanted to see what happened. I'm thinking of reducing the Lights to be Integrated to 80%, believing it will then not use the lower 20% quality?
I like crazy processing to be honest, it is something APP should handle gracefully of course, so if it doesn't that might need a bit of attention.
Yes, I actually always do that, when collecting data I already tell SGP to dismiss any frame with a certain guiding error and then integrate like 80-90% (based on the total amount), resulting in the best frames to integrate. No need to go through them by eye then really. Do select to integrate based on quality.
