Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Hi all! I'm here for the first time.

Usually I work in PixInsight. But there are reasons to try APP. Now I am working on a large mosaic of 55 panels. I have 55 LRGB well star pre-aligned master light panels (see example attached) with a black background outside the panel borders. A GradientMergeMosaic process in PI produces poor results. Is there a feature in the APP that will allow me to merge such a pre-aligned panels?

I ask the question becaus

Panel sample

e in the tutorial materials on APP I see complex way Alignment + Merge. I did not find any materials for merging pre-aligned panels.

Is the black border also part of the image? I don't think that would work. You can easily test APP itself for the mosaic, but I'd suggest to use the created panels from PI in APP (so just the integrated panels and not the above ones) and set it up for a mosaic like so:

1. Increase the stars target to 1000 in tab 3 at least.
2. Tab 4, scale start to 5, scale stop to 10, switch off "same camera and optics"
3. Mosaic registration mode
4. If you have all info on your setup you can opt for a calibrated projective, this can speed up the mosaic creation
5. Tab 5, normalize to advanced

6. LNC on as well as MBB, you can opt to switch off LNC for just the test as that can take a long time

Yes, because these panels are already registered in the size of the overall mosaic

@stasv Do you still have the 55 panels that you registered in PixInsight? With those you can create a mosaic in APP, not with the ones containing the black borders you got after registering them in PI.
