Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Good evening, like everyone I am doing 3 exposures with different times for the orion nebula.

Can the files all be put together? Using the option for different nights?

Or can the 3 separate sets be processed, putting a single reference frame to align the stars?

Thanks 🙂

You can combine all the data, even from different camera's and telescopes, so this is certainly possible. However, your aim is a HDR integration I think. This is not yet a capability in APP.

I would like to elaborate the 3 sets and then maybe blend them with photoshop.

But use a single reference frame for the stars.

Ah got it, so you can select a manual reference frame by going to tab 3 and analyze the stars. Then to tab 4 and clicking on "manual reference" on top, followed by selecting the frame in the list below to be the reference.

But can I use the 300s exposure for all sets for reference? Even from 10s and 120s?

You should be able to yes, if you load all sessions in and manually select that reference.

I would like to make all 3 exposures have the same alignment for photoshop.

Yes, so what you also can do is to make each set separately first, then load in the integrations again as lights, going to tab 4, click register and after that down in tab 4, save registered frames. If you want to save them as jpeg or tiff, you can reload a registered integration and press "save" on the right to export it as such a format.

But loading them in as different sessions will also make it possible to get 3 integrations that are registered to each other.
