Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.
I have been using APP for several years now, and this is a new one. I collected these data over the past couple of nights. All the subs are clean and normal. All three individual channel stacks look normal when processed. However, when I attempt to integrate them in the SHO Hubble Palette this is the result:
If I cut out the Ha data channel it looks like this, so the issue is with the Ha data. I've never seen this before, and no matter what I do with settings it doesn't help.
I calibrated with Dark, Flat, Dark Flat and master bias.
This is the Ha data stack:
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance,
Eric
I did a process with Beta 23 and didn't use any calibration files and the data is normal. Will try a stack now with calibration files to see if they are the problem.
My Ha Flats or Dark Flats are the source of the problem. I don't know what the problem is, but it seems to only affect the Ha data. I'll recapture flats and see what shakes out.
It was not the calibration files. I changed the combine RGB setting from multiply-scale to add-scale and it works normally. That's 3 hours of my life I'll never get back...
Hi Eric @flywaldo,
Thank you very much for sharing this, sometimes this can occur if the data channels differ a lot in quality, especially the normalization with scale can cause this. But it will be good if I can analyse this to see if I can improve things here.
Maybe you can upload those 3 stacks here:

Please make a folder with your name and issue and let me know once uploaded.

Mabula,

The three stacks are uploaded to the folder with my name. I'm working on processing it now, having difficulty with star color correction - it skews way into green and I can't get it back properly. It's not a lot of data, but the detail looks good so far at least.

Thank you!

Hi Eric @flywaldo,
Thank you for your upload, I will have a look at your data and issue in the coming days and will get back to you 😉

Hi Eric @flywaldo,
Thank you very much for reporting this issue with multiply-scale normalization in the RGB Combine Tool, your H-alpha data triggered a rare bug. I have found and fixed the problem though 😉
The fix will be included in 2.0.0-beta26 😉

That's great, I'm glad that I was able to contribute to the development of APP in this way!
