Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and itĀ  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

I see form the forum that a new release of APP is available (1.083.4), but when I check my copy of the software it only gives the first two decimals of the version (1.083) so I can't tell if I need to update or not.

Can you please add the full version number to the APP license info display at some point?

Thanks

It already is, it's likely that you didn't update yet?

Yes, so basically you're asking for a "an update is available" notification. šŸ™‚ For now that's always announced on top of the forum and here; https://www.astropixelprocessor.com/community/appreleases/downloads/

But my point is how do I know my copy of APP needs updating? Clicking on the License button in APP only gives the first two decimals of the version I am running (in my case 1.083) so I can't tell if that is 1.083.1, 1.083.2, 1.083.3 etc

So how can I tell if the version advertised on this website is newer than the one I have?

Maybe I didn't explain this clearly in my OP, but I thought I did.

The license information gives the exact version you currently have. So that is 1.083. If you download 1.083.4 and install that, it will show that as well. It doesn't show if there are further updates, that's a bit tricky to do because of how we setup the server where the downloads are. So you'd have to check the forum to see if newer versions are available and you can see that using the license info panel where the current version is shown.

Oh I see!! (sorry, I assumed that the software was truncating the last part of the version number... !)

Thank you
