Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Now that I'm getting a handle on using APP I have noticed one place I have trouble with. Setting the sliders. In some adjustments a slight move of the slider takes you from an ok default image to totally bad. Fine adjustments are needed or the ability to manually enter the setting value.

Otherwise loving using it, especially now with a bunch of RAM and 16 processors.

I was having trouble a year ago with APP not loading and running, that problem stopped.

Thanks

@w2db in APP generally if you click on (select) the slider and then use keyboard cursor arrow keys , you can get fine adjustment of the value.

Hi George @w2db,

Thank you very much for your question and I am happy to hear that the old issue is gone.

Like Andy @andybooth indicates, you can use the keyboard cursor/arrows to fine adjust. But you can also zoom in and out on the sliders using the numer buttons beside the sliders, the higher the numbers the more you are zoomed in and the easier it is to make fine adjustments.

Going forward, I will change how this all works and make it easier for sure.

@mabula-admin Yeah, I should have tried that, it works great. Just changed computers the Dell T7500 has become inoperative so built up an 8 core16T Dell T3600 now. Works great. No issues except now having to re-do several sessions on itelescope where I chose the wrong telescope (wrong field of view) or didn't expose correctly, etc. It is all fun! - GeorgeC
