Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.
It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...
Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.
Hello, i'm really new with APP, i have already success some stacks but i have fiew issues and questions. I hope you can share your knowlege and experience to solve my issues.
First of all, for the moment i live in Antarctica, so i have a bit of "light pollution" with southern lights, i think the stack may be a bit challenging. But i'm impressed by APP and his features, the stack is well control and the quality is good. (Better than Astap and DSS)
Because of southern lights and beautifull landscape, i like to shoot 360° panorama with a 40mm. This year i will try to improve my workflow, that's why i bought APP.
So there is my questions :
1°) In case of multisessions, sometimes i have a bit of foreground and for now i just crop it, but do we have the opportunity to mask it directly in APP like with a brush or something ?
2°) In my panoramas i have like 45 to 60 stacks to do, it's a long way... I tried DSS in the past, with stack by lots, it was awesome, once the process is started i just leave to come back fiew hours later and it's all done. Does APP have a hidden feature to stack by groups like DSS ?
3°) I was using PTGUI to stich all my panels wich is great, he allowed me to do really large mosaics. I bought APP specially for mosaics, because he's really good to stitch panels togethers with LNC and MBB even with different lenses.
But, like on this old topic "https://www.astropixelprocessor.com/community/main-forum/large-mosaics/", i have the same issue due to size limit :(. Is the limit still there or i missed something ? 😰
4°) Can we do a rejection on the mosaic to remove only airglow / aurora ? This could be usefull to work in a separate way the background with the milkyway, and to blend back airglow/aurora if needed. (Like a starless technique)
5°) For now, i use the mosaic tutorials of Mabula, they are really helpfull and great. Does the workflow in thoses tutorials is the same in 2024 ?
6°) There is a way to keep the settings when i save in TIFF ? Like to keep 32 bits + 300 DPI (for very large print)
