Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.
It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...
Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.
@wilderkaiser2021 We will need more info to be able to help you. What version of APP are you on? What operating system? How much memory does your computer have? Are you working on an external SD? What video card does your computer have?
Depending on your answers to these questions we may have more 🙂

Hello Wouter,
First of all thank you so much for the quick response. I am using APP version 1.082. My OS is mac os Mojave. My computer (MacBook air) has 8gb of ram. All my data is on an external hard drive just for astrophotography photos, so I connect the hard drive to my laptop while processing. I've watched many tutorials and I'm fairly sure I'm using the correct settings but any advice would help greatly!.
Best Regards,
Ulrich
Also, I don't know if this helps but I have 71 Images total. When I stack only 10 photos at a time, the weird banding goes away. This only happens when I try to stack all 71 images in one session. :/

Hi Ulrich,
Thanks for the quick reply. Is the external drive an SD or SSD? If the first then that likely is the issue. The drive isn’t fast enough to keep up with the huge amount of I/O generated by APP. Can you choose a Working Directory on the internal drive and see if that solves the issue?
Wouter
Hello Wouter,
The external drive is an SSD but an old one. I put my files on my computers hard drive and tried again and now the problem is gone. So as you said maybe my drive isn’t fast enough to keep up with the huge amount of I/O generated by APP. Nevertheless, problem solved for now. Thank you!
Ulrich
