Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Hi,

is there an ETA for the current beta30 development available? Release Notes don't show any progress since 3 Months

What is the roadmap for the final version?

It smells like we are at the end of this road.

Hi,

I had the same concerns, but I think the work will go on: https://www.astropixelprocessor.com/community/main-forum/concerns-about-the-future-of-app/#post-30925

Not a word from Mabula! I am very concerned about the future of APP and in no way comfortable renewing my license..

In the case APP-development will be discontinued and shut down, I would like to know if and how we can use APP in the future when there is a online license-check on every launch of APP.

@walsc that has to be at least the minimum requirement, that current full owner licence users can continue to use the software forever with no restrictions. We have paid for that I would say.

but I am confident it won’t come to that.

I bought an owner's license this time so I can at least use this version. I don't plan on updating my cameras anytime soon, so I can still use APP for a while. But I'm spending more time with Pixinsight now, also because there are no new major features in sight at the moment. And without saving and loading projects, APP still feels like a trial version to me.

Only once for activation. After that you don't need internet. However, if you want to install it on a new computer, it will be checked online.
