Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

I'm finding that I am unable to do kind large stacks in APP with my ASI094. It'll go as usual until it finishes the LNC correction during Integration and then the computer dies.

This is my system information, I've slowly been decreasing the amount of RAM that I'm allowing APP to use but it doesn't seem to help. Right now I have told it to only use 32GB out of the available 128GB but what I've noticed is that APP uses bugger all (5.6GB) but the system is heavily loaded at 80GB. During the beginning of the LNC process it's loading ~50GB of images into RAM on system. It is creating the 76.4GB of files (~25gb, ~50gb in two files)

I cannot give any crash information as the whole computer is going down and restarting. The only other time that this is happening is when I let PixInsight use more than ~60GB during stacking. I think the issue is that although I can tell APP to limit how much RAM it uses it's offloading it onto the system and then stretches it until it crashes. I'm using APP 1.082 at the moment.

This afternoon I've been attempting to stack 122x120s from the ASI094 and bayer drizzle integrate. I'm running another test now to see if it'll do an ordinary integration which won't take the same RAM requirements. Will update on how that goes when it's done.

Okay, so a step in the right direction. It only logged me out this time instead of a full crash but still no crash data.
