Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.
It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...
Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Basically, any version you want. 🙂 You can download the latest beta29 and work with that. Previous versions are available as well in case you would want that.
So, if I get you right, buying APP now gives me APP 2.0.0 beta 29 "forever"?

Owner's license:

- an Astro Pixel Processor license that never expires. You buy the software, so the software wil never stop working after the initial software activation.
- you will always have access to download the latest APP version with updates and bug fixes.
- you will have regular support on the forum from me and the other APP users.
- in case of a big upgrade of Astro Pixel Processor in the future, that introduces new features or structurally enhances the user interface, you could be asked an upgrade fee if you want to use the upgraded version. The old version without upgrade will not stop to work.
- The Renter’s and Owner’s licenses can be used offline after activation.

- an Astro Pixel Processor license that expires after 365 days. You rent the software, so the software will stop working after the expiry date.
- after license expiry, you can renew your Renter’s license for another 365 days.

- The Renter’s and Owner’s licenses can be used offline after activation.
So you can choose between a Renter's license, or an Owner's license.
The main difference is that with a Renter's license, if it is still valid within the 365 days to expiry, you can always activate the latest version of APP, even a big upgrade version, like version 3.0 in the future.
On the other hand, the Owner's license will always work on the current version, older versions and regular updated versions afterwards. Only when a big upgrade is released, Owner's license holders may need to pay an upgrade fee of 10-20% of initial purchase, to be able to use the new version. The old version would still work though without the upgrade fee of course. The current situation is that we will not ask an upgrade fee for 2.0 stable and later versions like 2.1 , 2.2 etc... Only when 3.0 is released we might ask this upgrade fee. You can understand that 2.0 stable is not even out yet, so 3.0 stable will take 2 years at least. Once 3.0 is released, the ugrade fee for Owner's license holders will be roughly the same as the price increase for new Owner's licenses.
So you do not buy a particular APP version, you buy a license to activate APP on your computers, and you are free to use the latest or older APP versions. All versions can be found on the downloads page as well: https://www.astropixelprocessor.com/downloads/
