Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.
I normally capture my data using bin 1. Since it usually oversampled at my site with my setup, I would like to do 2x2 binning. ZWO states that the ASI6200MM can do either hardware or software binning but suggest doing software binning if speed is not important. So, can I do this APP? I assume I collect my data 1x1 binning and then early on in processing APP would downsample the data to 2x2? Is that correct or even possible? Or do you suggest another approach to bin 2 the data?
@umasscrew39 Since you already have the raw data in 1x1 binning, I would process the data as is and then scale down the integration result. The issue with 2x2 binning the raw data is that you would have to 2x2 bin the raw flats, darks, etc or the masters.
In APP you can leave the integration mode in tab 6 at interpolation and then set the scale to 0.5 to simulate binning. It will do a software downscaling to 50% of the original image.
Got it- thank you!!
