Problem with BPM in...

Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Can not create a good BPM map with 1.049.  I have tested the creation of a BPM map with versions 1.047 and 1.049 and the 1.049 BPM method has a problem. I used the same 3 flats and darks in the example. The BPM creation process in 1.049 does not respond to changes in settings and the result does not look right at all.

APP BPM with 1 0 47
APP BPM with 1 0 47 2
APP BPM with 1 0 49
APP BPM with 1 0 49 2

Thank you Kees,

Can you send me some of your darks so I can have a thorough look? I guess 5 darks would be enough for testing.

I suspect the bad columns aren't detected?

Would be good moment for me to include accurate hot and defect column detection into the BPM creation.

Thank you Kees,

I'll work on this right now 😉 thank you for reporting this.

These are darks from today, can you send me a recent light frame as well, so I can test the BPM's efficiency?

Yes, problem is located and solved. Statistics wasn't set to a robust method, now MRS gaussian noise is used which is very robust.

I am currently working on bad column detection to improve these structures in the BPM as well. I'll create a new APP soon with this as well probably...
