May 27 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta45 has been released !

Fully Multi-Threaded LNC, many improvements for the registration engine, platform upgrade, and further tuning of internal memory consumption and memory release back to OS.

Apr 14 2026: Google Pay, Apple Pay & WeChat Pay added as payment options

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

I am trying to integrate my mosaic, something I've done numerous times on projects in the past. However, I simply cannot figure this one out. I am doing a 6-panel mosaic, images 1-3 are top and images 4-6 are bottom. When I do everything in APP, images 4-6 are bad, and panel 4 is completely white! If I take this image into PixInsight to process, it's completely blown out there too.

So I decided to just stack/calibrate/normalize/integrate panels 1 and 4 since it's top and bottom with 20% overlap of the panels. When I do this, panel 4 is still blown out. I've taken the images into Pix's Blink Process to just look at all the flats, the lights, and dark flats and I simply cannot find any issue with any of the images. The fun part is, Ha is fine, OIII has the borders in the image badly, and then SII is the one that is completely blown out white. So I decided to just stack the SII for the single panel, and it turned out perfectly fine and I used the same MF,MDF, MD and BPM files I used for the entire mosaic for just that panel for Sulfur. So I tried again to integrate the panels 1 and 4 again, same result of a blown out white SII.

Only settings I've changed:

Stars = 1000

tab 4 > scale start 5, scale stop 10, use dyn dist correct, disable same camer and optics (even though the same),  I left reg mod normal on latest try but have tried mosaic with same result

tab 5 > mode changed to advance

tab 6 > integrate = automatic, no LNC, MBB = 10, scale .2 (to speed process up a bit for testing)

I've consulted my previous posts here to ensure there wasn't some setting maybe I needed to enable but the fact is, as a single image it stacks fine, but when I throw it in the mix of all panels for the full mosaic, something is happening that shouldn't be.

Mosaic

Thanks for the assistance

Hi Mark,

if I understand you correctly the single master linear integration files are ok but the mosaic integration of some of them fails?

Which version do you use? Maybe you have read about my trouble with my latest mosaic. Here only the southern panel made trouble in all color channels. The northern was ok though there is no obvious difference between them.  The problem appeared only in V2.0.0 beta 4. I could solve it by temporarily returning to a stable version.

Cheers Pete

@pete_xl so high-level the issue is, if i stack just a single panel by itself, it works just fine. As soon as I try to stack two panels, as noted in the above scenario, it is blown out as non-linear. If i try to take it to pixinsight and stretch it, it's also blown out white. But that same panel when by itself works just fine.

I'm currently on APP 1.083.4 version which is my understanding is the latest.

APP 1.083.3 worked fine in my case. My issue was related to APP 2.0.0 beta4 and my advice would have been to go back to the last stable version. So no idea whats on. I can offer to check your data on my system if you like and if you want to provide a downloadlink for the panel masters.

We've let Mabula know, he was quite busy with beta 6, I've asked again.

Hi Peter @pete_xl,

It sounds like a data normalization issue to me. Which settings are you using in 5)Normalize ? Did you try different settings in 5)Normalize?

Do I understand correctly that the SII mosaic always fails somehow? If so, can you upload the SII mosaic panels so I can test it myself and find the cause of the problem?

Please make a folder with your name and let me know once uploaded. I will look at it as soon as possible 😉

Hi @mabula-admin,

I've added 3 files for each panel, each filter. Everytime I try change settings, I just get more blown out panels.

I've included a video showing all of my settings with results. When I try them as a mosaic, I get weird results. If I try it as a single panel, for example, SII panel 4 and use the flats/dark flats and dark, no issues with single panel. Only when I try doing as a mosaic. I've tried changing registration from normal to mosiac as well.

All files including video of entire setup found in: Mark Carter - Mosaic Failing to Render Correctly

Thanks

Hi Mark @endeavor384,

Thanks for the upload, I will look at it soon. Just 1 question for now: why did you not prepare the mosaic panels first before creating the mosaic? That is the recommended workflow, because it is faster and more robust 😉 Did you try that workflow or are you always trying to create a mosaic from all individual panels?

Hi @mabula-admin -

historically I've just put ALL lights, flats, dark flats and darks in at once and just waited for it to spit out a final mosaic.

I had issues doing 1 panel at a time, until I had all panels completed, and then tried doing the mosaic. Issues from horrible/unremovable gradients to overlap lines that can't be easily removed, to mismatched stars. I found more luck with doing them all at once but lately, hasn't been the case. I can go ahead and try doing each panel individually but again, just historically I had better results in the past doing all at once. I also have a very fast gaming PC so doing this full mosaic wouldn't take me much more than an hour or maybe slightly over to press integrate and just let it run.

Hi Mark @endeavor384,

Thank you very much for reporting this issue. After testing I can fully confirm that you encountered a serious bug relating to both the adaptive pedestal and data normalization. I will make sure that it is properly fixed in the next version 😉 I am working on it right now.

Hi Mark @endeavor384 & @pete_xl & @vincent-mod,

This issue is fixed for 2.0.0-beta7, it gives these results now with advanced normalization + MBB 10% + LNC1-3x for the 3 mosaics:

SII mosaic MBB10 LNC1 3x
O3 mosaic MBB10 LNC1 3x
Ha mosaic MBB10 LNC1 3x

Thank you very much for reporting the issue 😉

@mabula-admin Thanks Mabula! I'm actually somewhat relieved because I had issues with other mosaics that I just simply ditched the project because of this but felt I would report it when it happened this time.

When do you relatively anticipate that version with the release fix would be made generally available?

Thank you

Mark
