Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

I have finished collecting data on IC 417 where I found good H-a signal, decent S-II signal, but only a trace of O-III.

 

My plan was to make a LRGBHSS image in the RGB Combine Tool. The closest option I see is LRGBHOO. 

 

How do I tell APP to make a bi-color Blue channel from Ha and S-II?

Are you using a color or mono camera? And in any case, a multi-band pass filter or specific filters for each signal?

I’m using a mono camera, specific narrow band filters.

The O-III was so faint I deemed it not worth pursuing. I was hoping to put the S-II data to good use though. 

Looking at the presets in the RGB Combine tool, there is no HSS option or variations thereof. Like LRGBHSS. 

Could the HOO be used, substituting S for O?

@jeffmorgan Yes that of course is possible. Remember that SII is "deeper red" (i.e. is on a longer wavelength) than Ha so you'll get a strange effect. It seems to me that this object simply doesn't emit much OIII so you can perfectly well do an SHO stack.

@wvreeven So select SHO (or LRGBSHO), but what integration to use in place of O-III? The O-III data was so weak I deleted it.

@jeffmorgan Sorry to hear you already deleted the OIII data. You can try LRGBHOO and load SII for OIII. Just be aware that the result may be strange if you compare to other HOO images.
