Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.
It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...
Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Struggling...also after downloading the latest 1.83.4 version.
I use two computers : capture my files with NINA using the intel NUC and save them on a usb harddisk. On my APP computer that is connect with the usb disk I use windows 10, Home version 20h2
Camera ASI 183 mm pro. 222 light frames LRGBHA .
I made flats , dark-flats, bias, light-frames all in NINA using the same temp, gain etc.
After analyzing the 222 frames the message occur : Register: "stopping due to a fatal error can't find any suitable frame to be used as a reference frame.
I also saved the calibrated files and try these lights to integrate, but after analyzing it stops again when Registration starts.
I checked all the calibrated files visually
Is there a solution?
That must mean there is an issue with the data somehow, could you show a screenshot of a failed sub and your calibration data?
The latest console shows only the Ha L and R data. I cant find a special sub that failed.

But after the fatal Register error I can still save my callibrated files.
Yes, I got your recent data, unfortunately it's a bit busy here atm, please allow for an extra day. I'll have a look this evening and otherwise tomorrow.
I manage to go a step wise further by choose a reference file for registration by hand. But that should not be necessary.
Next problem is that after the lp session I get I white picture when saved on the right site. I manage to get it normal by unchecking the ddp and save that tif again as tif.......
That all sounds a bit like an issue with calibration data. I'm working on it right now so will report back in a few bits.
A few bits later:
1. I loaded in all your lights, added the masterdark and got this warning for the H-alpha channel in the console:

So, this already indicates that there is not enough data in the Ha channel. It does seem that the histogram is too much to the left, clipping a bit there. Exposing for longer should fix this, 3 min is definitely too short. H-alpha I tend to shoot at 5-15 min depending on the target.
R, G and B channels seem fine with the MasterDark substracted.
2. Applying the flats looks good, so onwards with the integrations. I didn't add the master-darkflats btw.
3. Starting with analyzing stars. All looking good still with luminance having a better general score which makes sense.
4. Registration, this I set to use distortion correction and not using the same camera/optics as different filters were used.
Immediate error. So I can reproduce it, which is good. 🙂 That is very odd as all is looking good with the RGB at least. Indeed setting a manual reference frame works.
I did see that the camera description in your data varies. The luminance has the regular ZWO ASI name, the RGB all have an ASCOM description. I took out the luminance and then it did register. This may be a bug, so let me report it to Mabula.
So LP correction does look fine on all mono integrations nor on the final LHaRGB stack.
Thanks for analysing Vincent. I use 3 minutes Ha within our milkyway for a long time. But perhaps the signal from small galaxies is too low. I will work on that. Please let us know when the bug is fixed.

The issue has been solved and the bug has been eliminated 😉 !
It was caused by having the luminance channel but with a different instrument/camera name than the other channels and this triggered a bug.
The fix will be included in the soon to be released new APP version...
