Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

I have been using APP successfully for many months. Today, however, it refuses to startup. On Windows 11, using Beta38. I get the console, but not the main screen.  Rebooted Windows, uninstalled and re-installed APP, with no success. I am attaching the log.. any advice is welcome.

@lilacwatcher I am not sure if my answer is not already late answer, but I did have same issue also, the solution is, to UNINSTALL the old APP version and then INSTALL the APP-BETA38 new, then APP will start..

Greetings and CS

Same errors here with Beta-39.

Beta-39 doesn't launch at all. Reinstalled 38, and it launches fine again.

Edit: Ignore. Uninstalled fully and reinstalled. Launches fine now. User error.

Hi @wheeljack, @artem, @lilacwatcher

Windows can create problems like this due to it's registry system it seems. I have never experienced the issue myself on both windows 10 and 11, but I know that it can occur when you install APP multiple times (mixing different APP versions) on different installation paths.

So the best solution seems to be: uninstall any version of APP that you can find on your computer. First use the windows control panel to uninstall APP under apps. Then check the installation paths for any old installation folder, check the following paths:

C:\Program Files\AstroPixelProcessor

or

C:\Program Files\AriesProductions (for 1.0xxx versions)

or

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Programs\AstroPixelProcessor

or

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\AstroPixelProcessor

If you encounter any such folder related to an Astro Pixel Processor installation, manually remove those paths.

Then to be sure. Reboot you computer. Then try to install APP 2.0.0-beta39 and let me know if all is okay or not.

Thanks Stefan, I have made a note to double check the new APP 2.0 windows installer, maybe there is some configuration in the installer that created this problem. So weird, I have never had it and several others users have it all the time it seems.

Hi Mabula @mabula-admin

I have Mac with Apple Silicon, Mac OS Tahoe.

--> Can I have two APP versions in parallel?

I would like to keep my current beta-37, until I see that everything works in beta-39.
Prior to installing beta-39 I would rename the current "AstroPixelProcessor.app" to "AstroPixelProcessor37.app"

Will this work?

Thank you and best regards.

Hi Michael @michaelacg,

I think that is possible, if you install beta39 and an older version is installed, macOS will automatically ask you to install it to a different folder i think or if you want to overwrite the previous installation.

Let me know if it works okay 😉

Uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling didn't work for me.

I had to open RegEdit and manually delete every reference to AstroPixelProcessor for it to start working again

Hi @bjurkowicz,

Thank you very much for sharing this with us. Issues with the registry are know to happen when users install both a new 2.0 beta together with an old 1.xx version. Cleaning the registry then helps.

Similar thing occurred again, suddenly (without installing any updates to APP or Windows 11) I started getting no window at all when opening APP. The program would open, I would see the application on the taskbar, when I mouse over I would see 2 white windows but nothing came up when pressing on them. If I right clicked and chose to close all windows the standard APP popup prior to exiting would come up.

I tried uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling - but the same behaviour persisted

I uninstalled APP again, went into the registry and deleted "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\astropixelprocessor", rebooted, reinstalled and it is now working

Hi Boaz, @bjurkowicz

Thank you very much for sharing this. Could it be that the application windows were there but outside the monitor resolution somehow. This is actually a bug that is on my list that I will solve. For instance, If you run APP on a 2nd monitor, close APP, disconnect that 2nd monitor, start APP, APP will start but you can not see it, the application window is placed on the old 2nd monitor... Could this or something similar have happened in your case?

Hi Mabula,

I do have a dual external monitor setup that I use sometimes, but the resolution on each monitor is lower than my laptop. I will do some testing and see if I can trigger this by doing what you described.
