Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.
It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...
Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.
I loaded 7 lights (clouds came in, the rest have no stars), 50 flats, 50 dark flats.
- All Fuji X-H2S, RAF, but lossy compressed
- I assigned "RGB"
Then I go to "2 CALIBRATE", leave everything standard, press "Create Master and assign to Lights"
When the error message comes, I press "ok", one more protocol line comes: "Master Flat creation is finished".
Then APP freezes.
The file "MDF-IG_1600.0-E1.0s-FUJIFILM_X-H2S-6336x4188-RGB-session_1.fits" is created.
I tried
- Loading just 1 light, 5 flats, 5 dark flats --> same happens
- Did not apply "RGB", just pressed "ok", using the defaults --> same
- Loaded 1 light, each 5 flat, dark flat, dark, bias
--> processing and creating Master for Bias, Dark and Dark Flat
--> And then crashes, exact same error message.

And I have found and fixed this bug today, APP 2.0.0-beta34 will have the fix and I will try to release it in the coming days:

As mentioned here https://www.astropixelprocessor.com/community/main-forum/astro-pixel-processor-crashes-when-loading-fuji-raw-files/#post-32320 < when trying to normalize light or flat frames from Fuji X-Trans RAF files, APP could throw an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException in the ImageNormalizer module. This bug has been fixed in calibration, normalization and integration.
