Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.
It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...
Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.
Current plan:
Processor - Ryzen 9, 7950X
Motherboard - ASUS Strix ROG X670-E Gaming WIFI
RAM - G.SKILL Flare X5 32GB DDR5 RAM Desktop Memory DDR5 6000MT/s F5-6000J3636F16GX2-FX5 (64 or 128 GB)
Power Supply - Corsair RMX-850
Cooler - NH-15S
Case - Corsair 4000D
Graphics card- To be determined
OS - Windows 11
My primary question regards the memory. I am looking at 1 TB or 2 TB versions:
SAMSUNG 990 PRO M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4.0 x4, NVMe 2.0 V7 V-NAND 3bit MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Should I get one or two and what size for each?
Others have mentioned having two using RAID 1 configuration. If I use two, I want to use the same type drive as the write speed will be determined by the slowest drive.
I will use another slower drive for long term storage.
Another question. Recommend a basic graphics card for processing (it will not be used for gaming).
Thanks.
If you do RAID 1 so you're mirroring them I'd get the 2tb ones. In fact, either way I'd get the 2 TB ones. Then again I have monstrous amounts of storage in my main computer.
And as for your RAM, go with as much as you can, so looking at what you posted 128gb of RAM.
Looking at what you have as far as PSU goes a Radeon 6750 is pretty affordable, and should not over tax your power supply. It should be sufficient.
