May 27 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta45 has been released !

Fully Multi-Threaded LNC, many improvements for the registration engine, platform upgrade, and further tuning of internal memory consumption and memory release back to OS.

Apr 14 2026: Google Pay, Apple Pay & WeChat Pay added as payment options

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

I built a PC about 4 years ago to use with APP.  I would like to review that PC and consider some upgrades if beneficial to the speed of processing etc?  It is getting a bit bogged down now in photoshop too.  Any advice on GPU and RAM would be appreciated.  Cost effective upgrades too please 😉

Currently:

i7 8700 3.2ghz 6 cores 12 logical processors

16GB RAM (2 slots out of 4)

Intel UHD Graphics 630

4TB SSD

Thanks

Adam

What's the speed of your SSD?
Depending on that answer, get a a faster one for stacking.

For editing, start with replacing the GPU. There a alot of GPU accelerated AI software for AStro editinh and last but not leat, more memory. I have 64 and use quite much of it.

@digitaliz-se Thanks Stefan, I'm not sure on the speed of the SSD, but can check later.  Does it matter what graphics card I go for?  Do they all fit?

I use the following software. (I updated my version of APP yesterday after about a year and I notice that it is considerably faster than before).

APP

PI

PS 2024

Depends what your computer can fit. But Nividia Geforce RTX series works excellent for those AI softwares.
